Woodstock Information and Highlights

Woodstock is a suburb of Baltimore, Maryland. It is also an affluent unincorporated community. This city is known for its amazing nightlife, diverse shopping destinations, and foodie options. The original village of the city is situated in the Howard County and it consists of some parts of the Carroll County and Baltimore County.

The Patuxent Ranger who was popular known as Thomas Browne explored westward through the Anne Arundel County through Clarksville. In the year 1702, Thomas finally came to this destination and settled in the area. In the 18th century period, the Brown family as they are called built the MT. Pleasant Log home. During the civil war, which took place a century later, Bradley Tyler Johnson who was a confederate general, stored diverse weaponry, dispatch messages and in addition, he hid from the union troops in the MT. Pleasant.

Woodstock has some solid minerals. The city was discovered as a mining destination for granite. The B&O railroad ran through this area, and to make granite deliveries more comfortable, a station was built in the year 1835 for the delivery of granite. The name given to the postal community was “David Tavern.” It was used for the area in the year 1836 when the first post office was launched. The early B&O contractors, who were involved in the construction of the railroad are peter Gorman and Caleb David. Gorman later got married to Elizabeth Browne, who was from the Brown family and they both lived in the city together. Gorman occupied a large farm area, sold granites for various building projects, and developed a large granite house in the area. The granite house built by Gorman was torn down in the early 1980s to construct a bridge across the Patapsco. This granite house was the birthplace of the prominent Arthur Pue Gorman.
